<p>Tricyclic anti depressants are commonly prescribed for anxiety attacks and have proven to be effective for treating depression. When depression and anxiety occur simultaneously they have also been shown to work well. Unwanted side effects can include dry mouth, blurred vision and difficulty with urination.</p>
<p>Newer medications including the brand Prozac are known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Introduced during the 1980's, this type of anti-depressant helps the brain to maintain desired levels of serotonin, an important neurotransmitter.</p>
<p><strong>Why Serotonin Levels Are Important</strong></p>
