One way of treating anxiety disorders is through anxiety group therapy. Typically there will be anywhere from 6 to 15 patients in a group. Of course there are pro's and con's to this type of therapy when compared with one on one treatment by a therapist.
Advantages of group-based anxiety therapy include a certain level of comfort typically experienced by patients. Sometimes it makes those suffering from anxiety see that they're not alone when they're in the company of others who have similar issues. Listening to members of the group helps them realize that others share the same feelings and it can be empowering to have a group of people all working together to solve a common problem. Generalized anxiety disorders are commonly characterized by constant worry and panic over ordinary things that do not bother others as much. If you suffer from anxiety attacks, chances are good that you will consider taking an anxiety attack medication at some point.
